Carolina Dog Mix or Australian Cattle Dog Mix?

My husband says Carolina Dog mix and I say ACD mix. But I am starting to lean more toward Carolina Dog mix. You see we are in the deep south and we have a lot of both Carolina Dogs running around and Australian Cattle Dogs running around. Our dogs mom was a stray and she was put down before my dog and her sister got adopted actually she was put down and the two pups were scheduled to be euthanized the day they were pulled by the rescue.

They said mom was either full blooded or mostly Jack Russell Terrier….I agree mom had to have some wirey breed in her because my dogs sister had a wirey coat.

Anyways she stays between 22 and 26 pounds.

She is a beautiful girl (her pictures really don't do her justice) Her temperment is more of the Carolina dog…..

She has brown eyes by the way but they reflect green

She has the coat of a Carolina dog, her temperment is that of a Carolina dog. Her facial build, body, tail. She is just smaller. Carolina dogs are between 30 and 44 pounds.

And she has similar features to the ACD as well.

Carolina dog! I, too, live in the deep south (SC, actually), and have seen many Carolina dogs, both wild and tame. Those ears, that expression! Your cutie definitely has some Carolina dog in her. Mixed with Jack Russell…well, she'll be smaller, but that's to be expected. She looks like a great dog! You're very lucky!

I think you are both wrong.

True, her ears are big and stand up like the wild dog you mention…but there is an easy explanation for that. :)

She looks like a Yellow Lab x Terrier mix. Labs have large triangular shaped ears that usually hang by the head….mix that with a Terrier (who generally have perky ears that stand up) and you get your dogs ears.
The coloring is that of a Yellow Lab as well as the thick tail, chest area, and point of hair on the chest (where the hair comes together and meets).
Mix the Lab traits with that of a Terrier (say, Jack Russell) and you get a smaller/shorter body, smaller feet/head and perky ears. :)
